Dr. Wilkinson trained as a neuropsychologist, having completed her Ph.D. in Psychology in 1987 from the University of Victoria, with both her Master's and Doctoral degree programmes specializing in neuropsychology. She is Board Certified with the American Society of Professional Psychology in Clinical Neuropsychology. Registered in BC as a psychologist since 1988, she is a member of the College of Psychologists of BC, as well as the BC Psychological Association, International Neuropsychological Society, National Academy of Neuropsychology, American Academy of Neuropsychology, American Psychological Association, Certificate of Professional Qualification in psychology, and Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.
Past clinical experience has included ten years as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC in the Department of Psychiatry, as well as an Associate Member of the Division of Neurology in the Faculty of Medicine. For ten years she was neuropsychologist to the UBC Hospital Head Injury Assessment Program. She also consulted from 1989 to 1999 once weekly as consultant neuropsychologist to the WCB Head Injury Unit. From 1997 to 2000, she also conducted the general neuropsychological consultation service from UBC Hospital, with referrals mainly from neurologists, neuropsychiatrists and psychiatrists. From 2000 to 2002, she was part-time neuropsychologist to the Acquired Brain Injury Unit, G. F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre.
At present, Dr. Wilkinson is entirely in private practice: assessments and consultations in the field of neuropsychology, mainly for brain trauma or suspected brain trauma patients, and other neurological disease such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, tumour etc., with additional consultations and document reviews. Referrals are typically received through lawyers, insurance companies, Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal, rehabilitation companies, and physicians. She has been qualified as an expert witness in neuropsychology for the Supreme Courts of B.C., Alberta, and Washington State.
