Neta Howard, M.Sc. ~ Registered Psychologist #1898
Neta Howard offers comprehensive psychoeducational assessments, as well as therapy for individuals of all ages who are experiencing difficulties due to:
• depression
• anxiety (including social anxiety)
• phobias
• insomnia
• self-esteem and social skills issues
• school or work stress.
Neta received undergraduate degrees in psychology and sociology from the University of Saskatchewan, and a M.Sc. in educational psychology from the University of Calgary. She was employed as a psychologist for a number of school districts throughout Alberta, and most recently, worked as a school psychologist for the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District in Nanaimo, BC. She is well versed in providing comprehensive assessments for students who are experiencing educational, psychological, behavioral, social and/or emotional difficulties, and in working with parents and school staff to identify strategies to support students’ learning.
While in Alberta, Neta also worked at the Calgary Learning Centre, where she specialized in assessing and providing therapeutic interventions for children and adults with learning disabilities and attention deficits. She also worked in private practice in Calgary, where she provided assessment and therapy for children, teenagers and adults who were struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, phobias, self-esteem, bullying, and school or work stress. Although her primary therapeutic focus is cognitive behavioural, Neta draws on a number of perspectives to meet the needs of individual clients.
Neta believes that although our emotional well-being is often affected by circumstances that are outside of our control, the power to change the way we feel about these events often lies within ourselves. With guidance and support, many people can regain a positive attitude about life, and it is Neta’s goal to assist her clients in recovering their sense of optimism and hope.
